Privacy policy

What happens to the details you send us — plainly, and in the order it actually happens.

Edgware Removals is the data controller for personal information collected through edgwareremovals.uk. This page explains how we handle it under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What you send us

The quote form on this site asks for seven things:

  • Your name
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address
  • The address you are moving out of
  • The address you are moving to
  • A moving date, if you have one — this field is optional
  • Any notes you want to add — also optional

Contact us by email or phone instead and we hold whatever you choose to tell us, along with the contact details the message arrives with. If you go on to book, we also hold the survey inventory and the job records that go with it.

Why we hold it, and on what basis

  • To answer you and prepare a quote. Steps taken at your request before entering a contract.
  • To carry out a move you have booked. Performance of a contract.
  • To arrange access. Where your road needs a parking dispensation or your block needs a booking, the relevant details go to the council or the managing agent. Performance of a contract.
  • To prepare customs paperwork on a move that crosses a border, which means sharing what the declaration requires with customs authorities and clearing agents. Contract and legal obligation.
  • To keep the records we are obliged to keep, including accounting and insurance records. Legal obligation and legitimate interests.

We do not sell your information, we do not pass it to anyone unrelated to your move, and asking for a quote does not put you on a mailing list.

Who else sees it

  • Our website and form hosting provider, which handles the submission in transit.
  • Our email provider.
  • Google reCAPTCHA, which checks a submission is not automated. Google's own privacy terms cover that check.
  • Google Analytics, where it is switched on, for aggregate page statistics.
  • Barnet or Harrow council, or a managing agent, where a parking dispensation or a building booking for your move requires it.
  • Clearing agents and customs authorities — international moves only, and only what the declaration needs.

Cookies, and what this site does not do

No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no profiling. Where Google Analytics is enabled it loads only after the page has finished rendering, and it is used to see which pages are useful. reCAPTCHA loads only once you start filling in the quote form. Blocking either in your browser will not stop you contacting us.

How long it stays

Enquiries that do not turn into bookings are deleted once they are plainly no longer live. Records of completed moves are kept for as long as accounting, tax and insurance obligations require, then deleted. Customs paperwork is kept for whatever period the relevant authority sets.

Keeping it safe

The site is served over HTTPS and form submissions are encrypted in transit. Access to enquiry and job records is limited to the people who need them to do the work.

What you can ask for

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • Give you a copy of what we hold about you
  • Correct anything that is wrong
  • Delete it, where we are not required to keep it
  • Restrict or object to how we are using it
  • Send it to another provider in a portable format

Email hello@edgwareremovals.uk and we will deal with it inside the statutory period. If you are unhappy with how we handle a request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

If this page changes

The updated version appears here. Where a change materially affects an existing customer, we will tell them directly rather than relying on them re-reading this page.
