Moving home in Edgware,
made calm
House, family-home, flat and man-and-van moves across HA8 — Edgware, Burnt Oak, Canons Park, Queensbury and the Stanmore and Mill Hill edges. Somebody looks at the house before you are given a figure, and the crew who load it are the crew who unload it.

Looked at
Somebody sees the house before you get a figure. Video for most homes, in person where the access or the volume earns it.
Written down
Crew, vehicle, materials and what is included — on paper before you commit. If anything changes it, you hear from us first.
Same faces
The people who load your home unload it. No handover to a subcontractor you have never spoken to, near or far.
Moving across Edgware, made calm
What a move here actually involves
Every suburb has its own particular awkwardness. In HA8 it is lofts, garages, half-landing turns and a handful of roads a full-size vehicle should not be taken down. None of it is difficult when somebody has looked first.
The 1930s semi
Edgware is largely Metroland. A bay-fronted semi with a hall, a return at the half-landing and a loft hatch that has not been fully emptied since the family arrived. The stairs decide the wardrobe, and the loft decides the vehicle.
Drives, garages and side returns
A garden-suburb driveway is a genuine advantage — a vehicle can usually get close. The garage is the complication: it is almost always fuller than anyone remembers, and much of what is in it cannot legally travel.
Narrow roads off the A5
Watling Street itself is wide. A lot of what runs off it is not, particularly around Burnt Oak. We look at the approach before committing a full-size vehicle, and shuttle from the end of the road where that is the sensible answer.
Flats above the parades
The shop parades along the high street and around Queensbury carry conversion flats with a shared entrance and stair-only access. Whether the sofa comes down is a question of measurements, and it gets asked at the survey rather than on the day.
Families moving up, and down
A great deal of Edgware moving is local: a growing family leaving a two-bed for a three, or a couple leaving the family house for something smaller after thirty years. The second of those needs a different pace, not a different price list.
The A41, the A1 and the M1
All within minutes, which is why a long run out of Edgware starts easily — north, west, or down to the Channel. It is also why a good share of local moves finish somewhere else in the country entirely.
How a move goes
Four steps, in order. No timings on this page — the dates belong to your chain, not to us, and a firm promising you a number for them is guessing.
A look round first
On video for most homes, in person where the access or the volume earns it. We walk the rooms, the hall, the stairs and the driveway, and write down what is actually there rather than estimating from a room count.
What we look at
Rooms, hall width, the turn on the stairs, the loft, the garage, where a vehicle can stand, and anything you already know is awkward.
A written plan
Crew, vehicle, materials and what is included, on paper before you agree to anything. If something changes it later, you hear from us first rather than finding it on an invoice.
What the plan says
Crew size, vehicle, materials, packing level, the order of the day, and a plain list of what is included and what is not.
Packed and protected
Blankets go on in the room the furniture stands in. Glass, mirrors and pictures are cased properly. Floors, door frames and the bannister are covered at both ends before the first carry.
What goes on first
Floor runners, door-frame padding and bannister covers — at both addresses, before anything is carried.
Set down, not dropped off
Boxes to the room named on the label, beds rebuilt where you want them, packing materials taken away with us. Nobody leaves until you have walked round and said you are happy.
What happens last
A walk round with you, room by room, before anyone gets back in the vehicle.
What we do
Eight services. The wrapping standard is the same on every one of them, whether it is a whole house or a single wardrobe.
House removals
Whole homes across HA8.
Metroland semis, suburban terraces and the larger houses towards Canons Park and Stanmore — surveyed room by room and moved by a crew who stay with the job from the first blanket to the last walk-round.
Family & downsizing moves
Long-stay houses, and the move out of one.
The moves with a loft, a garage, a shed and twenty years in them. Packed at a pace that lets people decide what is actually coming, rather than sweeping it all onto a vehicle.
Flat & apartment removals
Conversions, maisonettes and new build.
Above-the-shops conversions on the parades, purpose-built blocks, and the newer developments near the station. The route out of the building is planned before anything else.
Man and van
A room, a part load, one heavy thing.
The same wrapping and the same crews at a smaller scale, priced by the job rather than by a clock you have to keep an eye on.
Office & business removals
High-street units, offices and light industrial.
Desks, IT, stock and records moved out of hours and set out to a plan, so the business is working again at the new address rather than unpacking around customers.
Packing & careful handling
All of it, some of it, or just the boxes.
Full pack, part pack — usually the kitchen and anything framed — or materials dropped off in advance so you can work through it at your own pace.
Storage between dates
For the gap in a chain.
Containerised and listed on the way in, so the load waits somewhere sensible while the dates settle and comes out again in a useful order.
European removals
Edgware to France, Spain, Italy and Portugal.
Road moves down the M1 and out through the Channel, with the customs declaration built from the survey inventory and lodged before the vehicle travels.
Edgware & north-London coverage
HA8, and the roads that border it
We work Edgware and its immediate edges properly rather than claiming half of London. Where a move belongs to someone else's patch, we will say so.
Edgware
HA8 — the core
The Broadwalk end of the high street, the streets off Watling Street, and the 1930s semis that spread out behind them. Most of our work starts within a mile of the station, and most of it is a family leaving one semi for a larger one a few roads away.
Burnt Oak
HA8 — south along the A5
Watling Estate terraces and semis, tighter roads, and a good deal of flat and shared-house work alongside the family moves. Parking is the usual question here: on many of these roads a large vehicle wants thinking about before the morning, not during it.
Canons Park
HA8 — the quieter west side
Wider verges, longer driveways and larger detached and semi-detached houses. The moves here are bigger by volume, often with a loft and a garage that have not been opened properly in years, and frequently a downsize rather than an upsize.
Queensbury
HA8 / HA3 edge
Interwar semis and parades, a mix of family homes and conversion flats above the shops. A lot of first-time-buyer and growing-family moves, and a fair number that end up somewhere else in north London rather than staying local.
The Stanmore edge
HA7 border
Where the ground starts rising and the houses get larger. Longer approaches, gravel drives, and occasionally a road narrow enough that we shuttle from the end of it. We work this edge because it sits against Edgware, not as a patch of its own.
The Mill Hill edge
NW7 border
The eastern side, towards the A1 and the M1. Mixed stock — interwar semis, newer estates and some substantial older houses. Handy for us because a long-distance run out of Edgware starts from here in minutes.
Moving elsewhere in London?
If the whole move sits outside HA8 and its edges, a London-wide firm will serve you better than we will. Our network has two — Quality Removals London for careful house, flat and office moves across every borough, and House London Removals for whole-house moves. Saying so costs us a job and saves you a bad one.
What is included
There are no tiers here and nothing to choose between. This is the standard on every job, and the extras below are quoted as part of the same written plan rather than appearing later.
Get a quoteAlways
- Blankets, covers and corner protection on every piece of furniture
- Floor runners, door-frame padding and bannister covers at both addresses
- Beds, wardrobes and dining tables taken apart and rebuilt by hand
- Boxes delivered to the room named on the label
- Our own packing materials taken away with us at the end
- A walk round with you before anyone gets back in the vehicle
When you need it
- Full or part packing, and unpacking to whatever level you want
- Containerised storage while the dates settle
- A parking dispensation where the road needs one
- Handling for pianos, safes and the genuinely awkward pieces
And if the move is further than that
The M1 and the A41 are minutes away, so a run out of Edgware to the rest of the country starts easily — one crew at both ends, no depot handover. And four European destinations by road, with the customs declaration built from the survey list and lodged before the vehicle travels.
European removalsQuestions people ask before booking
Plain answers. Where the honest answer is that it depends, that is what it says.
Do you cover all of Edgware?
HA8 and its edges — Edgware itself, Burnt Oak, Canons Park, Queensbury and the borders with Stanmore and Mill Hill. For a move somewhere else in London entirely, we will say so and point you at the right firm rather than stretching.
How do you work out the price?
Somebody looks at the house first. Video for most homes, in person where the access or the volume earns it. That look produces a room-by-room list, and the list produces the figure, along with a plain statement of what is included.
Will the price change on the day?
Not if the house matches what we saw. That is the whole reason we look first. If something genuinely changes — a loft nobody mentioned, a road closure, a completion that slips — we tell you before we carry on rather than adding it afterwards.
Can you park outside?
On most Edgware roads, yes, with a bit of planning. Where the street is controlled or too narrow for a large vehicle, we either arrange a dispensation with the borough or shuttle from the nearest sensible point. Either way it is sorted out before the morning.
Do you pack, or do we?
Either. Full pack, part pack — usually the kitchen and anything framed — or we drop materials off in advance so you can work through it at your own pace. Plenty of families do a bit of both.
Moving in or out of Edgware?
Send both addresses and a rough idea of what is coming. We will come back about having a look round.
